Discount Electronics — Warranty Policy
1. Statutory Warranties & Merchantable Quality
In accordance with Section 5 of the Kenyan Consumer Protection Act (Cap 501), Discount Electronics warrants that all products supplied under our consumer agreements are of a reasonably merchantable quality and are fit for the ordinary purposes for which such goods are intended. These implied legal warranties cannot be contractually excluded or modified.
2. Coverage Period
- Brand New Electronics & Laptops: Benefit from a standard 12-month hardware warranty against inherent factory material or manufacturing defects from the date of system order generation.
- Refurbished / Ex-UK Items: Carry an explicit 3-month or 6-month operational hardware warranty depending on the product grade specified at checkout.
3. Remedies and Redress
If a device experiences an inherent mechanical or technical failure within the coverage window, the customer has the right to redress under the law. Discount Electronics will be granted a reasonable opportunity to assess the diagnostic failure to provide:
- Repair: Prompt servicing using genuine replacement parts at no technical cost to the buyer.
- Replacement: Provision of an identical or equivalent model if a manufacturing fault cannot be resolved.
- Refund: A credit or reversal if fulfillment or technical replacement is impossible.
4. Warranty Exclusions
This policy strictly protects against internal component and factory assembly failure. It does not cover:
- Physical drops, screen cracking, structural casing breakage, or liquid ingress/spills.
- Natural battery backup capacity degradation over time (standard chemical wear and tear).
- Unofficial software modifications, rooting, operating system tampering, or third-party repair opening attempts.
5. Claims Initiation
To initiate a valid assessment, the customer must provide the original purchase proof and the valid system order code format (DE-YYMMDD-XXXX) to customer care or via our official WhatsApp service channel.
